THE BANDS
The selection stage is now complete and the bands making demos at Verden this year are (in no particular order):
Introduction
Are you a young musician who would love to record a professional demo?
Would you like advice on song writing, and what to do with your demo once it’s been recorded?
Verden Studios in association with the Scottish Arts Council are proud to announce an exiting new initiative designed to help young musicians record and promote their band’s demo.
We have the opportunity to select four musicians or bands that write and play their own original music and are inviting acts to apply for the selection process.
Verden Pro-Demo is open to individuals and groups of all sizes. It is also open to all styles of music. The only pre-requisite is that the music is original.
Please not that band members must be between the ages of 14 & 19 (though bands with members up to the age of 25 may be considered).
What happens?
Fill in the form. This is your chance to sell yourselves. Make sure you fill it in clearly so that we can read it.

If you already have your music on your myspace, facebook, bebo, you-tube or any website, you can e-mail the completed form to us as an attachment with a link to your site.

Please don’t e-mail music files as we may not be able to receive them.
If you don’t have a web-page yet, make an audio recording or some video footage of your band playing your best song. (We will listen to up to three songs.)
Fidelity i.e. quality of the recording or video footage is not an issue. You can use your mobile phone, camera or computer’s built in microphone. Programmed tunes are also welcome.

Please note that we are unable to return anything you send us.
Applicants will be chosen and invited to an audition. We will let you know whether you are successful or not.
Auditions will take place over the weekend of 8/9 August.
Musicians/bands will be invited to showcase two or three songs to a panel live at Verden Studios. Four bands will go on to participate in the project.
VERDEN PRO-DEMO
The project will take place in three stages.
- Pre-production.
- Recording
- Post production.
Pre-production will be rehearsal and a workshop with a professional published producer to perfect three songs, which will then be recorded over a three-day period. Recording is expected to take place during weekends in September/October 2009.
Once the recording has been completed, the final results will be made in to CDs and the groups/artists will get help with their cover design and participate in a post-production workshop aimed at making a plan of action for promotion.
Supporting acts at this crucial stage of their development works on several levels; firstly it allows them to make a high quality demo and gain all the musical & technical know-how related to recording process, secondly and perhaps more importantly, it allows them to make an informed attempt at promoting themselves. Make the demo, and then make the demo work!
The best part is, the band doesn’t have to pay for any of it!
